How to Make Your PC Faster: Simple Tips for Better Performance

Make Your PC Faster - deeply protect

Over time, your PC may start to feel slower—programs take longer to open, startup drags on, and multitasking becomes frustrating. The good news is that you don’t always need to buy a new computer. With a few tweaks, you can speed up your PC and make it feel like new.

1. Clean Up Temporary Files

  • Remove unnecessary files from %temp% and C:\Windows\Temp folders.

  • Use Disk Cleanup or third-party tools like CCleaner to free up storage space.

2. Manage Startup Programs

  • Too many apps launching at startup slow down boot time.

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → go to Task Manager → Startup tab → disable programs you don’t need.

3. Uninstall Unused Software

  • Remove apps you rarely use from Control Panel > Programs and Features.

  • This frees up space and reduces background processes.

4. Check for Viruses and Malware

  • Malware can silently drain performance.

  • Run a scan with Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus.

5.RAMMap

RAMMap is a free advanced memory usage analysis tool developed by Microsoft Sysinternals. It gives a much deeper look at how Windows is managing RAM compared to Task Manager.

🔹 What is RAMMap?

  • RAMMap shows how physical memory is allocated, used, cached, and reserved.

  • It lets you analyze how Windows uses RAM at the page level.

  • Useful for IT admins, advanced users, and developers troubleshooting performance issues.

🔹 Key Features of RAMMap

  1. Use Counts – Shows how much memory is allocated for processes, drivers, and the system.

  2. Processes – Breaks down how much memory each running process is consuming.

  3. Priority Summary – Displays memory usage based on priority levels.

  4. Physical Pages – Lets you view which physical memory pages are being used.

  5. File Summary & File Details – Shows cached files and their memory usage.

🔹 Common Uses

  • Diagnose high memory usage problems.

  • Identify which apps or drivers are using too much RAM.

  • Analyze standby lists (cached memory that may cause slowdowns).

  • Clear memory lists (helps free RAM without restarting the PC).

🔹 How to Use RAMMap

  1. Download from Microsoft Sysinternals:

6. Defragment or Optimize Your Drive

  • For HDDs: Run Defragment and Optimize Drives.

  • For SSDs: Windows will automatically optimize, so just ensure TRIM is enabled.

7. Add More RAM

  • If you multitask a lot, upgrading RAM can dramatically speed up performance.

  • 8GB is good for casual use; 16GB+ is better for gaming or heavy workloads.

8. Upgrade to an SSD

  • Replacing your hard drive with an SSD is one of the best upgrades you can do.

  • SSDs make boot times and app launches much faster.

9. Disable Visual Effects

  • Right-click This PC > Properties > Advanced system settings.

  • Under Performance, choose Adjust for best performance to reduce animations and effects.

10. Restart Your PC Regularly

  • A simple restart clears background processes and memory leaks.

How to Fix “Invalid Configuration Information — Please Run Setup Program” on Dell PCs 2025

How to Fix “Invalid Configuration Information — Please Run Setup Program” on Dell PCs 2025

Cause

This event is the result of resetting the BIOS to defaults. This event results from inadvertently holding down the power button for at least 25 seconds. It can also trigger when the computer is placed in a bag or a position where the power button may be engaged for a long period.

If the computer is imaged with the BIOS set in Legacy Mode, this BIOS reset places the computer in a no boot configuration as the default BIOS setting is UEFI. If operating in Legacy mode, press F2 to enter the BIOS and change the boot order back to legacy, then reboot the computer. Press the F1 key to boot the computer (due to the time and date not being set) then Windows should update the time and date automatically.

If BitLocker is enabled on the computer, the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is reset causing BitLocker to prompt for the recovery key.

When this issue occurs, follow the guide instructions on the screen. Press the F2 Key (if attached to a keyboard) or the Volume Down button to enter the BIOS menu.

Once in the BIOS, reset the custom BIOS options (if any). Verify that the date and time are correct, and change any other needed BIOS menu options for your normal configuration and then restart the computer.
